What's up Party People? Today, we're diving into the art of brewing with the AeroPress. This little gem has been a staple for coffee lovers, especially those who are always on the move—whether you’re traveling, camping, or just looking for a quick and reliable brew.
The AeroPress is versatile and can be used with various methods, but today, we're focusing on one of our favorites: the inverted method. Not only that, but we'll also be making a concentrated brew using a 1:4 ratio. Let’s get into it!
Gather Your Gear
Here’s what you’ll need:
- AeroPress
- Coffee (vacuum-sealed for freshness)
- Hot water
- Digital scales
- Pouring kettle
- Filters
- A vessel for brewing
Step-by-Step AeroPress Brewing
-
Prepare Your Coffee and Gear
- Start by weighing out 25 grams of coffee. This will give you a nice, concentrated brew.
- Wet the paper filter with a bit of hot water. This step helps to eliminate any paper taste and pre-warms your AeroPress.
-
Set Up Your AeroPress
- Place your AeroPress on the digital scales and tare it to zero.
- Add the 25 grams of coffee to the AeroPress.
-
Add Water and Stir
- Pour 100 grams (or milliliters) of hot water over the coffee grounds. This step is crucial for even saturation and extraction.
- Give the coffee a good swirl to ensure all grounds are wet. This helps to avoid any uneven extraction.
-
Attach the Filter and Plunge
- After letting it steep for about a minute, attach the filter cap securely.
- Flip the AeroPress onto your vessel and plunge gently. This should take around 20 seconds. You should end up with a rich coffee concentrate.
-
Adjust Your Brew
- Reset the scales to zero and add between 150 to 200 milliliters of water to the concentrate, depending on your taste preference. This step allows you to adjust the strength of your coffee to your liking.
-
Enjoy!
- Give it a quick stir and your AeroPress coffee is ready to enjoy. Whether you’re sipping it black or adding a splash of milk, this method ensures a bold and flavorful cup.
And that’s it! The AeroPress is a fantastic tool for crafting coffee with a lot of flexibility. By using the inverted method and creating a concentrate, you can tailor your brew to be strong and rich, or light and mellow.
So, get brewing and enjoy that perfect AeroPress cup. See you next time! Cheers!
